El icono literario nigeriano, Isidore Okpewho, muere a los 74 años

El profesor Isidore Okpewho, galardonado novelista y uno de los iconos literarios más importantes de Nigeria, murió el domingo 4 de septiembre en un hospital de Binghamton, Nueva York.

the_victims.jpg Okpehwo, autor de la popular novela, The Victims, estaba afincado desde 1991 en los Estados Unidos, donde daba clases en la Universidad Estatal de Nueva York.

Este erudito nacido en el Estado del Delta ganó en 1976 el Premio de las Artes y la Literatura africana y en 1993 el premio de los escritores de la Commonwealth al Mejor Libro en África.

Además, fue distinguido con la Orden Nacional del Mérito Nigeriana (NNOM) en Humanidades en el año 2010.

Las novelas de Okpewho incluyen, The Last duty, Blood on the Tides y Call me by my Rightful Name, entre otras.
