El «Cascade Festival of African Films» que tiene lugar en la ciudad norteamericana de Portland en Oregon, llega a su vigésima edición.
En esta edición en la que también se celebra el 50º aniversario de 17 paises africanos que consiguieron su independencia en 1960 las películas documentales que se exponen son de directores africanos que nos muestran los logros y fracasos de África.
Nos muestran las imágenes de África vistas por los ojos de Africanos. Las películas representan las preocupaciones (los intereses) africanas que son políticas, históricas, y sociales y cubren una amplia gama de temas y asuntos, incluyendo la identidad africana, la liberación, la emigración, el desplazamiento etc
